How Can You Combine Medicare Options?

Medicare plans fit together to provide coverage that’s right for you. In total, there are seven different Medicare coverage combinations. Depending on what type of base coverage you select, the options for additional benefits may change. Here are all the ways you can combine various types of Medicare to meet your needs.

If you choose a combination that does not include Part D prescription drug coverage: To avoid a financial penalty, you must purchase or have separate drug coverage that is considered “creditable” meaning it covers at least as much as Medicare Part D.

Original Medicare Combinations

Medicare members have several options when combining Part A & B (Original Medicare) with other types of coverage. Original Medicare is funded through the federal government, though members may be responsible for some costs, including deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance.
